The end of summer and back to school sales have already become a distant memory and if you are like me you are looking forward to the next wave of retail deals and discounts. As Columbus Day weekend approaches, let’s celebrate the unofficial beginning to the holiday shopping season.
Nearly every major retailer (and plenty of minor ones) will hold sales over the next week and through the weekend, and here’s a little preview of what you can expect:
Target.com is offering steep savings on toys and popular kids’ brands like Tonka and Playskool for all your Santa’s little helpers. Nautica.com is having a 30% off sale until the 10th of October, while Dick’s Sporting Goods has discounted selected Nike gear and workout clothing. 1-800-Flowers is offering up to 15% off select arrangements and gifts throughout October. Just about everything at Kmart stores is on sale this week, and you can also take advantage of their generous layaway program for holiday shopping. If you’re in the market for a new computer, HP has a number of sales this week on everything from printer paper to high-definition monitors. Now is the time to buy!
Since October also happens to be National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many retailers are combining traditional Columbus Day discounts with pledges to support breast cancer research. Stores and brands, such as Belk, Lowe’s, Coldwater Creek, Crayola, Hallmark, Stein Mart, Old Navy, Pottery Barn Kids and dozens of others, may be combining their fundraising efforts with Columbus Day sales. Treat yourself, save some money, and do your part to help breast cancer research. Could it get any better?
